Donner Summit PUD Upgrade & Expansion Project

At a recent meeting, the Directors of the Donner Summit PUD (DSPUD) voted to create a Community Facilities District (CFD) as a way of financing the Donner Summit Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion project.  Through the CFD, the cost of the project would be tacked onto property tax bills rather than quarterly rates and would result in taxpayer write-offs.

In September, a special election will be held to decide if the Community Facilities District will be approved by ratepayers.  The CFD would be comprised of 3 zones.  Each of the 3 zones would vote separately and thus, each ratepayer’s vote would be meaningful.

The District has been conducting public hearings on the Community Facilities District and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) document.  The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31st, at 6 pm, at the District office on Sherritt Lane in Soda Springs.  The purpose of this meeting is for the District to discuss, receive comment and adopt the Project’s CEQA document.  The Public is encouraged to attend the meeting.
