Hoyfjellet Lodge Testimonial

“Boy Scout Troop 206 (Menlo Park, CA) has been happily returning to Hoyfjellet Lodge for more than 10 years for its annual ski trip. Because it is conveniently located for Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge, Hoyfjellet is an ideal base for our Troop to go downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing, and we know we’ll get a warm welcome, good food and a cosy place for après ski relaxation. Highly recommended for groups.

Zumbathon® at Sugar Bowl – January 28, 2012

Grab your dancing shoes and Zumba®  the night away this Saturday, January 28th, at 6 p.m. in the Coldstream Room of the Judah Lodge at Sugar Bowl.  In a charity event sponsored by Sugar Bowl and Zumba® instructor, Greta Dahmer, proceeds will benefit Project MANA as well as the Donner Summit Area Association.

For those of you who don’t know, Zumba® is a Latin-inspired dance fitness program blending Latin and International rhythms in movements that will get your heart pumping!  It’s fun, it’s a cardio workout and you don’t have to be a dancer to enjoy the rhythms – salsa, merengue, samba, reggae, hip hop, belly dance and more.

This fun evening is open to men, women, boys and girls, anyone 13 years of age and older.  The cost of of admission is $10 plus a non-perishable food item.  And if you’d like to donate more, please do so (receipts will be provided).

Soda Springs RV Park Proposal

A public meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 15th, at 4 p.m. in the Donner Summit PUD Board Room regarding the re-establishment of a 13-space RV Park by the owner of the Soda Springs General Store building.  The purpose of the public meeting is to discuss the project and gather public comments and questions.

Previous hookups exist on the perimeter of the Soda Springs General Store property.  The project proposal includes removal of old utility pedestals to be replaced with 15 new pedestals;  new utility trench and pavement apron for each site; remodeling of the storage shed to accommodate electrical panel, laundry and restrooms.

The county requests public comments before January 19, 2012 and they should be in writing.  The Donner Summit Area Association (DSAA) has opened their website and their Facebook page to receive such comments which they will forward to the county.

Ice Skating in Serene Lakes Has Never Been Better!

Believe it or not, there’s a bright spot to the lack of snowfall this year.  With no new snow falling on the frozen lake, the ice remains glass-smooth — perfect for ice skaters, hockey players and even canines!
